Position Overview
Janssen Research & Development seeks to bring innovative and effective treatments in six therapeutic areas of high unmet medical need. The Janssen campus in Beerse, close to Antwerp, (Belgium) has a unique ecosystem covering the complete drug development life cycle, with all capabilities from basic science to market access on one campus. Our medicinal chemistry group focuses on developing innovative small molecule therapeutics to treat diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, various types of cancers and infectious diseases like Hepatitis B, influenza, etc. We are currently looking for enthusiastic PhD-level chemists with the following profile.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Plans and performs scientific experiments in the lab with a high degree of independence
- Works in a team environment with a strong can-do attitude and is responsible for efficient daily time-management
- Contributes to the ideation of new compounds
- Ensures detailed recording of all experimental data and communicates scientific results in reports and meetings.
- Identifies, discusses, and implements current scientific developments within the team and project.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. degree in organic or medicinal chemistry
- Highly motivated and engaged team worker with a strong commitment to lab work
- Practical experience in the synthesis of complex molecules and/or synthetic methodology development, with good knowledge of modern synthetic & analytical techniques
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, fluent in English both verbal and in writing.
- Hands-on knowledge of automated synthesis approaches and/or high throughput experimentation set-ups is considered a plus, as well as handling of large datasets
