Looking for a highly self-motivated, full time PhD candidate (duration 4-5 years) with an interest in neuropharmacology, neurodegeneration and/or neuroinflammation in the department of Pharmacy at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani Hyderabad campus.
Area of research: To elucidate the molecular mechanisms responsible for the development of peripheral neuropathies and to revert them to alleviate the symptoms of peripheral neuropathies.
Requirements: - M.Pharm, MSc in relevant field
- Experience and willingness to work with the animals (mice and rats) is a must.
- Experience in western blotting, immunohistochemistry, tissue processing and/or cell culture techniques is recommended
Nature of work: The basic flow of the experiments will include the induction of peripheral neuropathies in mice/rats using different approaches, analyzing the animals using electrophysiology and behavioral tests; and sacrificing them to collect the tissue to study the changes at the cellular and molecular level. Animals will be treated with different drugs to minimize the severity of peripheral neuropathies.
Funding: This is a fully-funded position. Salary will be JRF level (salary plus HRA) with regular appraisal as per Government of India norms.
