Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist (m/f/d)


Bayer is looking for a highly creative and motivated bioinformatician / computational biologist (m/f/d) with expertise in the analysis of high throughput RNA sequencing data to join the Biomedical Data Science team in Berlin, Germany, within Pharma R&D Data Sciences. You will be part of a two-year collaboration project on transcriptome-based chemical profiling between Bayer´s Pharmaceuticals and Crop Science Divisions, which will play a crucial role in the development of next-generation therapeutics and biomarkers for patients with cancer and cardiovascular diseases.

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Implement and apply state-of-the-art bioinformatics pipelines to analyze high throughput RNA sequencing data and exchange bioinformatics solutions with colleagues from the Pharmaceuticals and Crop Science Divisions in Europe and the US
  • Analyze gene regulatory patterns and understand cellular mechanisms in disease biology
  • Develop and apply bioinformatics and machine learning methods for the integration and modeling of multimodal data
  • Enhance understanding of bioactive molecules and guide the development of safe and active compounds

Who You Are

  • Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, physics, biology, medicine, or a related field; postdoctoral experience is a plus
  • Experience in single-cell RNA sequencing or transcriptome analysis of human disease models is a plus
  • Experience in machine learning / deep learning on biological data and the relevant Python libraries (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras) are preferred , experience with high-performance computing or cloud computing is a plus
  • Strong programming skills (Python and/or R) and experience in the development of computational analysis workflows
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
